About the therapist

Dr Lola Olukotun, BSc MSc DClinPsy CPsychol

I am a London and Kent-based Chartered Psychologist and HCPC-Registered Clinical Psychologist. My training includes a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, an MSc in Foundations of Clinical Psychology, and a Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I have further postgraduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (UCL) and Family Interventions (KCL).

I have worked as a therapist for many years, and enjoy helping people make sense of their experiences and finding different ways of living. There are many reasons why people seek therapy and would like someone to talk to. I value hearing each person's story and helping them to find inner calm, clarity and understanding.

The name of my therapy practice - The Leighton Clinic - was named after the street I grew up on as a child. My practice is built on the idea that early experiences profoundly influence how we see ourselves, our worth, what we believe we deserve, and what we feel possible in our lives. These beliefs and narratives we hold can later affect relationships, self-confidence, and patterns of behaving. I work with clients to explore their life stories, consider helpful ways understanding of what happened, and learn skills and techniques to manage their problems better.

My therapeutic work is person-centred and sensitive to the various aspects that can influence people’s experiences - no person’s journey is the same as another and it is important to think about individual factors that shape our lives. I put compassion and empathy at the forefront of all that I do, and I offer a safe, confidential, non-judgmental and thoughtful space where the people I work with can explore a range of difficulties.

The decision to start therapy can be a difficult one. My clients have shared that I am friendly, warm and very easy to talk to. Get in touch, and I would be happy to think about how I can work with you, to enhance your life and support you to live the life that you want.
